Mailing Preparation Guidelines
Preparing your mailing materials correctly is key to ensuring a smooth and cost-effective campaign. From cleaning up your address lists to choosing the right postage options, our guidelines will help you avoid common pitfalls and maximise your mailing impact.
Postal Indicia Space
Ensure a 1.1/4" x 1.1/4" white space in the upper right-hand corner for postal indicia.
Address Printing Area
Reserve a 2" high by 4" wide white space for the recipient's address and barcode.
Rounded Corners
Rounded corner cards with a radius above .125” are not suitable for bulk mailing.
Card Thickness
Use materials that are at least 0.007 inches thick (like 65# Cover) but no more than 0.25 inches.
Weight Limit
Each piece should weigh no more than 3.5 ounces.
Size Range
Your mail piece should be between 3.5” x 5” and 6.125” x 11.5”. Pieces smaller than 3.5" x 5.6" do not qualify for automation discounts.
Address Requirements
For Marketing Mail, include at least 200 valid addresses; for First Class Presort Mail, at least 500.
Larger Mailings
Pieces exceeding standard mail dimensions can be sent as "Flats" with a maximum size of 12” x 15”, a thickness of up to .75”, and a weight of up to 16 ounces.
Exceeding Flat Sizes
Items that exceed the size limitations of "Flats" can be mailed as “Commercial Parcels”.
